people forget

"Love is when my mum makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before she gives it to him, to make sure the taste is OK" (Danny age 7)

"Love is when Mum sees Dad on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross" (Mark age 6)

and my favourite...

"You really shouldnt' say I LOVE YOU unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget" (Jessica age 8)

I can see the bright green strip of grass and sunlight everywhere

Trotsky's last testament, written while in exile in Mexio expecting to die shortly from high blood pressure wrote "I can see the bright green strip of grass beneath the wall, and sunlight everywhere. Life is beautiful. Let the future generations cleanse it of all evil, oppression and violence and enjoy it to the full".

I was at a baby shower a few weekends ago and at the tradition part of the shower when the mum to be starts opening all her lovely new baby gifts, I started noticing a reoccurring pattern of handmade gifts. I mean almost every second gift was beautifully and carefully handmade. Now the cynical part of me instantly reared its negative head with a comment like 'mothers with too much time on their hands' but truth is I was truly jealous, they were creative, gorgeous, clever, handcrafted gifts that will be I am sure one day be precious to this new baby.
So with that I have an epiphany...i think I'll give this sew la tea do ago!

simply and purely beautiful vera wang

Ever since I was young I have loved this design of wedding dress, I literally fell in love with this type of dress when I saw Carolyn Bessette wear something similar when she married JFK junior in the 90's. So elegant and classical..

pussy cat black

Photo GalleryPhoto Gallery
On a recent shopping jaunt in Melbourne we spent the morning buying organic strawberries and handmade chocolates from Victoria Markets and after eating such delicious goodies we decided to walk through  Therry street and see where it would take us. Much to my delight we came across this fabulous little boutique called Pussycat Black.  It's the type of shop you envision Melbourne to be full of. The type of store where every item seems to have its own unique sense of place (especially in my wardrobe) and its own distinctive style. If you're like me Melbourne isn't quite around the corner however, you can pop over and visit their website www.pussycatblack.com and have a little browse of their goodies at your own leisure.

In fields where the yellow grass grows knee-high

I love the song "come away with me" by Norah Jones she paints a picture of the perfect day for a picnic rug, a glass of mascato and unusual insects crawling up your arm.
I often day dream about getting away, somewhere exotically peaceful and the only voice I hear is that of my Love's ...a little getaway where the world stands still and mobile phones have been confiscated. Yes I think that would be just right for me today...

"And I want to walk with you
On a cloudy day
In fields where the yellow grass grows knee-high
So won't you try to come"?

Hydrangeas are the most beautiful flower. I have buckets and buckets of them at home and they put a smile on my face everytime I see them. They are classic for all time...Lovely lovely!

would you wear a vera wang just because it's a vera wang?

Brides getting married in 2011 will be excited to discover that they will be able to buy an affordable Vera Wang wedding dress for their big day. Vera Wang has released her WHITE collection with dresses ranging from $600-$1400 exclusive to David's Bridal in America who will be the official retailer for this collection. This news comes a little too late for me but it did get me thinking about whether I would wear one of her gowns just so that I could say "I am wearing a wang". Would I chose a dress that I semi loved just to be able to say for the rest of my life...I wore a Vera Wang on my wedding day?
Confession, I hated choosing a wedding gown, I knew I wanted something simple, silk satin and elegant but I found finding something simple and silk satin just impossible. I had one very helpful sales assistant tell me if I wanted something plain and simple I wouldn't look or feel like a bride! Well who else is going to be wearing a cathedral veil on the day?? I am pretty sure no one is going to confuse me for a my aunt rose wearing Ivory on the day. The first picture is the dress my own wedding gown was modeled off. It's called "Cassandra" and it's by Vera Wang but I couldn't afford the price tag so I made some changes bought the picture to my dress maker and seven weeks later I am wearing a "Wang influence"...
